It seems like this breaking-change would have provided an opportunity to improve compatibility with WebTorrent, which AFAIK requires a separate swarm (connected via WebRTC)

qbittorrent, hands down :) Open source, cross platform and relatively small footprint (native), uTorrent-like UI. I believe it uses libtorrent under the hood, so this might be integrated soon.

It seems they still can't be bothered to implement a proper "stop" button, despite many requests over the years. When the devs refuse to listen to their users, that's software I won't use.

Went to look up the issue - the dev's response seems reasonable to me.

The only difference between qbit's pause and uTorrent's stop is the check if files still exist.

Yeah this definitely feels like a Python 2/3 type situation. They solved one minor issue but require the whole world to update. The problem is the two swarms are different so as more people move over to v2 the v1 swarms will become smaller and smaller -- thus giving people an incentive to upgrade, I suppose. ...and they seem to have solved more than one minor issue since they were breaking things…

Surely people will just sit in both swarms?
