I like the solar hijri calendar (not to be confused with the lunar hijri). Better than anno domini would be a anno mundi system, but to make a new scientific anno mundi system rather than the old way, due directly to the Earth going around the Sun, because that is how the year is considered, so to count years starting from that, too. I'm a big proponent of continuous time zones, so that noon drifts ever so slightly as position changes. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
Suffice to say, we stopped doing that in the 19th century for very good reasons.
