Have you noticed how all your arguments are fine yet only personal preferences? (except dataloss) The UX, UI and 'feel' is what makes people use one thing over another. This is probably my biggest complaint with macOS.
I'm still shocked by the inability to disable inertia scrolling on a usb mouse, as well as acceleration.
These things were removed on purpose.
If you use a macbook with usb devices, there are all sorts of oddities. It's annoying. I can use it, it's just not for a power user. For me, power user means "configure it", shape it to maximize your workflow speed.
MacOS is just not that. With linux there is a lot more flexibility.
I don't care too much about eye-candiness, I want my UI to be incredibly fast. MacOS has those damn animations when switching spaces that is annoying to say the least (I switch spaces very often)
