It's funny what the final piece of straw is that breaks peoples' metaphorical camels' backs.

Still, better it breaks and people make the move to greener pastures — hopefully Firefox rather than Chrome-with-even-more-questionable-ethics … I don't remember the name, something like Courageous or Fearless or something like that.

It reminds me of a company which developed a product which was more or less done. So the SWE manager and the product manager made up new (pretty useless) features just to tell their bosses the devs are busy and the team must stay intact.

It makes their serving of AMP less transparent, which is a good thing for them. I guess.

This is the only economically rational explanation I can think of. Unless it ties into other user-abusive projects they have planned.

Firefox mobile syncs beautifully with desktop, and they have a standalone password manager app that syncs with your browser's password manager, maybe you'll find it useful.

There's also an accessibility setting to always force zoomability, even when the site disables it.

Uh, what? It’s changing the UI to hide parts of the URL.

Look, I’d prefer it the other way too, but we have to choose the right words. The thought process shouldn’t be “I’m mad, what else makes me really mad like this? Oh yeah social justice workers. This UI change is therefore like social justice work.”

I see absolutely no benefit whatsoever for the general population. Dumbing things down for people does not make technology easier, it makes people dumber.

If your goal is to make people dumb and compliant, this is a great idea. Of course we know that's what Google's goal is, because that's what keeps the money flowing.
