Microsoft has software that uses ML to make it look like your eyeballs are looking at the camera in a video chat, apparently accelerated by chip.
Maybe a camera dongle that sits inside your mid-size portable computer and can be positioned away from the screen, though that could predispose people to exposing their keyboard and typing a password in view.
Within a week the big players will find some way to use their scale to shut down the small players, like promoting hit pieces about zoom's security woes, and the future will be exactly the same as today. R&D and innovation rarely have the best ROI, especially the consumer-facing kind.
