Since the only fate of any private data with third-parties is to be eventually leaked, it is best to know as little as possible about users. Monetization of protocols where every data packet has a nano monetary value would allow for strong encryption and would guarantee that communication is as secure as modern decentralized financial transactions.

#7Super dense coding and quantum teleportation only offers a constant bandwidth increase over the regular kind and is very hard, so probably not. Quantum key distribution is believed unbreakable, so... some day, maybe, depending on some various Things.
How about software that doesn't need explodingly faster hardware to just barely even work?
Microsoft has software that uses ML to make it look like your eyeballs are looking at the camera in a video chat, apparently accelerated by chip.
Maybe a camera dongle that sits inside your mid-size portable computer and can be positioned away from the screen, though that could predispose people to exposing their keyboard and typing a password in view.
Within a week the big players will find some way to use their scale to shut down the small players, like promoting hit pieces about zoom's security woes, and the future will be exactly the same as today. R&D and innovation rarely have the best ROI, especially the consumer-facing kind.

#8The two bigs one I see are DDS and OPC UA.
From what I can find, DDS is data centric and OPC UA is device centric.
