I fear that will only mitigate the spread, not curb the belief in it, unfortunately. If anything so many conspiracy theories seem massively fueled even today by any attempts to silence. I fear something along the lines of education and critical thinking is the only way to deal with this problem. I just don't know how to get there :(
thats seems to be the root of the problem. we're a fear driven economy now. That's why conspiracy theories are rampant, as well as actual conspiracies.

There’s a difference between censorship and a book publisher deciding they don’t want to publish or sell a book. This appears to be a case of the later. He’s free to print and distribute his book, but no private company is under any obligation to help him in that endeavor.

The arguments against his book in that post are not particularly damning. More like par-for-the-course for pop science. And it's not like academia is immune to this. Selection bias? Free flow of information is not the same as misinformation. Lack of understanding is not the same as misinforming. I 100% support restricting distribution of material that is based on conjecture and bullshit info. Especially when that information comes with a for-profit motive.
