#182People on twitter at other $bigtech seem more than happy to bring you all on board but you've been sucking that $270k+ top-end-even-for-FAANG salary with no concern for the ethics or morality of your business for years. This isn't new. I'm less than excited to see Facebook show up on a resume and haven't been for years. Not to mention the people I've interviewed from there seem to get so accustomed to working on Face…
I would be shocked if even one of these people leave.

#183Zuck get's it. Start censoring, editorializing etc. and section 230 protections will be gutted. On top of that anti-trust investigations intensify, rightfully, because you have not concentrated too much power into an un-regulated, un-elected platform vs the elected government which is against the interest of the country as a whole. For all of the engineers complaining about this, there are plenty of other ones who wo…

That sounds unfair. Of course you very accustomed to working with tools you work with every day, especially if they're good. You'll also never find a 1:1 match between companies though and not-bad people can switch between systems as needed. Unless you need an intermediate level boilerplate writer ready to go with tech X and Y from day 1, it should be fine. Why not say: These are people experienced with systems that…
Because it's pretty clear the point of the comment was the lack of ethics in pursuit of money. Not everybody wants to work at places like that, or with people like that. What's the point in them bringing technical expertise to your environment if they poison the culture with their amorality and venality? Money isn't everything, some of us know that, some of us don't care. Assuming the premise, natch. :)

Has the world lost its collective mind? Imagine discriminating based upon the employees work history. Who the fuck are you, mate? This is like throwing away a resume because the developer worked for a Pornhub subsidiary. “Oh this person worked in the adult industry, he probably wanked off all day. Hard pass. No interview or screening by actual technical people.” Take a hard look in the mirror, you might see yourself…
That is ... literally what CVs are for.

#187People really want Zuckerberg to decide whether posts of the president should be deleted or not? Is this for real? We really need mainstream decentralized applications more than ever. Thoughts of people should not be censored. Who the hell should be the truth police? You? People that have the same beliefs as you? This is just ridiculous. I don't like Facebook but great decision by Mark. Same as they decided to not re…
A family member honestly proposed to me the other day that “hate-speech” should be banned. As well intentioned as that person is: I asked her, who do you want to decide which speech is hateful? The president you don’t like? The Supreme Court that he’s appointed many members to?
Neutral laws that protect everyone’s rights are that way for a reason. So when YOU are in the minority, you don’t find yourself in a compromised position.

I agree with you. We should not police free speech. That doesn't mean we should allow falsehood to sail rampant in broadcast media. Any broadcast media should be held accountable if its spreading blatant lies to disinform and uproar conspiracy theories.
Free speech shouldn't mean irresponsible speech.

The truth is that they do censor content so words have no meaning.
They censor content that would lead to immediate harm. How would you prove a Trump post can lead to immediate harm? Is CNN immoral for reporting what he says? Is my Dad immoral for telling me what he says, becuz it might lead to harm? Don't shoot the messenger.

What's so crazy about judging a resume by its contents? Why even submit one if it's not meant to influence the decision?
