Even ignoring voter suppression issues, being in a minority group in a democracy does not preclude authoritarian oppression. This is simple math, known as "tyranny of the majority", and is why the US Constitution is longer than just a paragraph about democratic elections.

Of all the civil rights leaders, I’d say people remember Martin Luther King Jr the best.

It’s probably also worth asking: when have violent protests ever helped the cause?

I think that the violence of the protests helped to get Derek Chauvin arrested. But I’m not sure that continued violence will help the broader movement.

Indian independence? Martin Luther King?

In both cases, the protestors were violently attacked over and over. Also, both Ghandi and MLK were murdered for their efforts.

IF they are identical morally there's still a problem, because they are not identical in power. With power comes a responsibilty to be better than others, and if that's not something you can count on, which it isn't, we need to protect others.

Well they aren't equal, nor has humanity never complained about those in power...

Was the police violence worse during the time of the civil rights? Were the protesters ever violent or turn to rioting?

What would Dr King say about the protests?

Blur is in effect a lowpass filter on the image. The high frequency information is gone. Reconstruction based on domain knowledge, like AI methods etc is unlikely to be able to reconstruct the distinguishing features between people enough to avoid false positives when used to search for similar people. All of those mentioned in the article were not just attendees but community organizers. Do some drake equation style math on the back of an envelope:

What percentage of young people will die in a given year?

What percentage of those will happen to be community organizers?

What percentage of those will die by being shot in the head in a car that was then set on fire to annihilate forensic evidence?

Doesn't take too many steps out to get into the realm of zero percent probability that this is random chance

All you need to do is watch videos of protests anywhere to see cops aggressing on protestors, shooting people on their lawns, arresting and shooting reporters for major news networks on camera. When people are aggressed upon by armed security forces in other countries I'll bet most dont take the side of the people with the guns, so why now?
