#63The Game of Life is responsible for getting me into computing back in the early 80s. Spent a summer implementing classifier systems at VA Tech in the 90s and never had so much fun. A great mind that will be greatly missed.
Cellular Automata got me into computing a few years ago - it's amazing how the Game of Life and other CA's are Turing Complete.
So many people will miss him.

That article in The Guardian is especially good. The author clearly loves mathematics and knows how to tell a good story.
