It's P2P, like most videoconferencing. The server part is just for session management.

#16Open-source, iOS and Android apps, self-hosting, video chat and first class web client support are all attractive and competing required features to stand a chance against Zoom and aside from its technical merits, it just needs to be more aggressive in marketing itself to capture some mindshare. Or even the name its should be changed to something less clever and to a more user friendly one which could be a start...

These things are subjective but if enough people hate it, perhaps it’s important to look into it.

Well, if there's only 2, maybe 3 of you – anything beyond that is going to use a server to host the call for reliability.
