Imagine you worked at Google. Imagine you were tasked with building this website as quickly as possible. You have available internal tools designed to work with Google accounts. These tools have already been tested and validated. They have already gone through some level of security and privacy review. They have already scaled to high QPS production uses.

I think most of us could do this without Google signin in about 15 minutes.

I'll get the stopwatch and generously double your time limit to 30 minutes. Maybe if they've covered California you could do some of the other states.

Santa Clara announced 23 new cases today. With the amount of testing we're doing it could easily be 5-10x more than that on a daily basis.

I would say those two counties are actually in critical stages right now. No reason to downplay its significance.

Interesting how it goes from `projectbaseline.com` to `baseline.google.com` after you complete the initial questionnaire, but the site continues to look the same. Why not just have one consistent domain then? Obviously it doesn't matter as long as it works, and it was built extremely quickly, though it does make me wonder.

I imagine the simplest explanation is that all of these things came together at the same time by different teams.

If only we had some kind of open standard for user authentication, we could call it OAuth maybe.

Security is part of the launch review. An ad-hoc user system would require significantly more effort to properly review and get approval. I doubt the website would have finished the PRR if it's not using the existing user system.

When people are working against the clock to save as many lives as possible and one guy is “visibly shaking” because he is worried about his privacy. How do you tell someone nicely that they might be a narcissist?
