Whether the car uses electrons or fossil fuels is pretty irrelevant, right?

I think the comparison with an electric car is to illustrate that this cloud solution is a waste of energy.

Ok, I have a use case for this. If you could figure out how to get it off the cloud and low power, it would be awesome to have one of these on the gates to my house, so when I drive up the plates are automatically recognized and the gates open to my car.

I think the problem here is pretty obvious.

I wonder if the ML would also recognise hand-drawn licence plates?

This is nice from an academical standpoint since it can scale to track the cars, infer speed of the cars, track lanes, signs maybe experiment and try to do some predictions(...) But, if the target is just to find plates and recognize the letters I've seen this being done with only a RPI. (I am actually considering to do it just for fun :))

The best password is the one written in plaintext on the outside of your car.

According to this article, the image quality on the new glasses from Bosch, should actually be very good: https://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/consumer-electronics/gad...

It is easy to imagine someone with these glasses from Bosch, walking around in a bar. Personal information about other people would projected right to the retina.

I dont think its supposed to be a safety feature, the gate is probably not locked.
