You can do 802.11x cert-based authentication on wired LAN too. Don't dismiss other people's technical choices because you ignore the existence of certain technical possibility.

I didn't dismiss other people's technical choices or ignore the existence of a certain technical possibility. 802.11x is obviously a way of locking down a LAN to authorized devices. I assumed every network administrator would be familiar with that.

I mostly agree... I use a TB/USB3 dock at work, it works in either/or mode, though USB mode graphics sucks, it's okay for getting work done (web platform development, mostly text/terminal). I was only pointing it out as pretty much the only thing that's likely to be a significant issue for many, especially if you're doing any kind of casual gaming while wanting to dock, vs plugin a few separate items. I use a desktop…

Not sure if you're aware, but you're presumably using your dock in a config where it's using DisplayLink for the display output. Configurations exist that do HDMI/DisplayPort passthrough over USB/TB, which have native performance.

Sounds like a legacy software problem. Old Mac software is the same.

Nope. Old Mac software doesn't suffer from scaling issues on high dpi displays.

I know.. I had to use it via USB for a few days when the USB-C/TB port failed on my laptop until it was repaired.

Sorry, We only do servers and high end workstations/desktops...

I personally couldn't find a ODM that was high quality... all seemed to be cheap/too plasticy and would break easily... Unless you are doing ~5k+ a month and can get better designs, the off the shelf prebuilt chassis were not great :(
