Apple's hijacking of links, addresses, etc, is possibly their top abuse of power. The other possible top abuse is the way they block you in your group messages if you switch from iPhone to Android.

Can you expand please on the blocking group messages?

iMessage isn't MMS. Android does group messages with the latter.

For the link hijacking, it's worth noting that Apple News only exists/is pre-installed in a handful of markets and is uninstallable. But yeah, baffling.

I have it uninstalled, but every time somebody sends me a link they read in Apple News, my phone prompts me to install the app and won’t show me the article unless I do.

I wish they completely disabled service workers. I don’t want some dumb news site running code in the background because I visited the site once.

That's fine, you can just not subscribe. But other people do want push notifications, like for emails.

Also, notifications can be used to replace emails. Instead of being sent an email from a forum when someone replies to my comment (with a link) - I'd rather have the browser do that (with my permission).

Which RSS reader do you use?

Inoreader is my choice. If you pay for it, you can also feed email newsletters/press releases into it, and follow Twitter/Facebook pages

Been using inoreader since Google Reader died. Great service which I found this page from :)

Why would providing similar behavior to an OS app warrant a ban? Many many apps on various OSes supplement default OS apps.
