#2Title might add 2002 model year Lexus which moved in its parking space.
Re: Man killed by car being remotely started
#3This was an aftermarket mod, as the article mentions only at the end.
Re: Man killed by car being remotely started
#4Sounds like a third party remote start was installed which doesn’t have the same guarantees.. like ensuring the car is in park..
Re: Man killed by car being remotely started
#5This is a non-story. A 2002 Model Year Lexus IS was probably manual, and the owner had an aftermarket remote starter installed.
As anyone knows, the starter motor for a car (almost any motor) has an unbelievable amount of torque.
That coupled with a MANUAL transmission, likely in first gear (parked) - caused the car to lurch forward.
Freak accident, but really just a whole bunch of stupid.

And that Lexus did not offer remote start on that model, so this car was clearly modified.

#7Another example of the old adage: the perfect crime is to kill a person with a car.
Re: Man killed by car being remotely started
#8Can we changed Title to "Man killed by after market modification to car after remote start" or something, not "Lexus"
