#36Perhaps instead of this poll, pg could simply toss some page analytics onto hackernews? To be honest, I was surprised when I didn't see any trackers in the page source.
He doesn't need a js tracker if he just looks at logs. While analytics adds a lot of cool features, it is often to the users detriment.

I block analytics with AdBlockPlus because it often adds multi-second delays to page loading.
