Just something to consider is that Toyota panels do have external controls that allow you to use the panel without the touchscreen. I have a 2016 Toyota Corolla, and the entertainment system is a touchscreen, but I haven't touched it in years. Touch screens are awful for operating while you focus elsewhere. I miss touch typing and I sure like adjusting car controls without looking away. What's that, trust driverless cars you say? Never, and the basilisk be damned.

Not insane but highly cynical. They are increasing risk to my - their user's - life in order to save some bucks on R&D and integration investment. Does it make you wonder where else did the make the same tradeoff? It should.

Same here. When I buy my next car, I would ensure it doesn't have controls that require me to be distracted from driving to operate even the most basic functions.

Hey! This happened on Sunday in my wife's CRV! We were going to lunch, and the touchscreen went apeshit, flipping between menus at the speed of light, beeping madly. And, as you said, she immediately began fooling with it, trying to get it to stop. I had to tell her "Let me do this! You just drive!" Its very, very distracting.

Go to your dealer. I wasnt notified but they had a type of limited warranty where they knew about it. The sensors were not installed correctly in some units. They replaced it for free.
