AMD's PSP is ARM TrustZone, there is no way AMD could open it in their current chips, they don't own the IP and ARM is vehemently opposed. Due to the outcry, they are more likely to build their own secure enclave/supervisor processor in the next major rework of Zen, which they would own the IP of.

make -j24

Be sure to have enough RAM, so you will not run out of it. (For some reason, when building projects like LLVM with -j 16, 32 GB w/o swap may be not enough. With -j 2, it is enough, but takes an eternity).

Make sure to install and use ccache and give it a big cache size on a fast ssd (I use 96GiB). It speeds up rebuilds (after the cache is populated) quite significantly.

That would be good. Opposed ARM should get lost.

You could always get a reburb $15 Radeon from a few years ago if you really don't care about 3d performance.

I also considered going with a USB-DisplayPort adapter, but it was more expensive and I wasn't sure how well it would work.

They don't have the choice on older chipsets that ME Cleaner has been reverse engineered to work with.

Hence why its practicality. Neither respects user freedom, but the community has reverse engineered the ability to disable the backdoor of one company and not the other.

At close to 300 comments, I am surprised there is no mention of what I thought was the most important and surprise, 32 to 70MB L3 Cache. A lot of people focus on Core and Thread as well as IPC. We already knew what improvement IPC could do, we already knew what we could do 32 Thread. None of these are really new.

But 64MB of L3 Cache? In a consumer CPU at a price that I would hardly call expensive ( I would even go on to call it a bargain ). We used to talk about performance enhancements and cache miss, we now have 64MB to mess with, we could have the whole languages VM living in Cache!

You can get a cheap passive gpu, most don't even need power from the PSU. Something like a nvidia GT 710 or 730.

Is there anything similar but from AMD? As a Linux user I'd rather not buy nVidia.

Passively cooled R5 230s are old but readily available. The newest passively cooled AMD card I'm aware of is the XFX RX460 but it's hard to find.

The RX550 is low power enough to not need a PSU connector but for some reason nobody has made a passively cooled version.

This, people tend to forget what huge difference a few mb of cache can make. I'd prefer 1Mb more of cache over half a GHz of frequency.
