$249 is still a little overpriced considering alternative options, especially with a refurb/used iPhone 7 going for really cheap. As in, like, $160 on Ebay and more expensive for refurbs and new ones. But hey, that's how they get rid of extra inventory. Not sure why it was delisted in the first place and not just put there, but that's their prerogative.

It's never been about price, it's about form factor. The iPhone 7 is 28% larger (HxW) than the iPhone SE. That's precisely why I've refused to upgrade to the later versions too: They're absurdly large.

This is a refurbished one. I don't get why people still buy SE when you have a multitude of better phones from other companies, say Samsung or OnePlus.

Apple refurbished products are the only refurbished products I would by. All products receive a brand new outer casing, battery, and original box (with accessories) no matter what. Additionally, everything is tested against the same benchmarks for new products so they are really "like new." The come with the regular one year warranty without any limitations, and are eligible for the paid AppleCare plans, which shows that Apple's financial department is satisfied that refurbished products perform just as well as new ones and do not break any more often. Lastly, buying refurb help to reduce electronic waste and environmental damage.

Apple have routinely demonstrated more action to protect the security and privacy of uses than any other mainstream vendor.

Plus this 4" form factor is magic.

I have a Samsung S7 from march 2016 and just received the march 2019 security update. Not bad ;)

The Nokia 6 was released back in January 2017 and is still seeing major OS upgrades (most recently to Android 9 Pie). I would expect a larger, much higher volume vendor like Samsung to do more than security patches for older phones considering that a smaller player like Nokia can keep up. It isn't a herculean task! Pretty sure my next device will be a Nokia or iPhone due to the long term software support.

It's a lot easier for Nokia to do that because they use a version of Android that's basically stock. Samsung re-skins the UI and adds a bunch of features, so every time they upgrade to a new version of Android, they have to re-apply all those patches. (of course, whether they should do that is another question...)

This was my favourite phone. Fast. Stable. Flat, easy-to-grip sides and a screen size designed to impress me, not Samsung executives. If they gave it new internals and electronic SIM capabilities, I’d pay $1,000 for it.

Why would you ever want eSIM support? The very existence of eSIM is completely antithetical to reason SIM cards were created in the first place. Without physical SIM cards, you're forced to grovel to your wireless provider to please provision your phone, and they can refuse to do so for any reason. With SIM cards, there's no limit to what devices you can use on what networks, outside of hardware ones. I find it ridic…

The current iPhones with eSIM support also have a normal nanoSIM slot, nothing stopping you from using that instead. eSIM doesn’t take away any flexibility or functionality.

These are refurbished.

These are not refurbished, they are new. It’s a bit confusing because the clearance section is in the refurb section, but these are indeed brand new in box.

I don't know...

The URL says refurbiahed and the page says refurbished in big lettering. The last couple of times when I looked when Apple made the SE re-available, the site didn't say refurbished like that.
