A couple movies.. off tpoic: I used to walk my dog at the same beach (west vancouver) as the air bud dogs. They were all over-bred show dogs. They lived short lives. I am not a fan of those movies.

Good rule of thumb: if it's an Apple product, divide its US market share by 2 or even 4 and you get its maximum world wide market share :) A lot of this is very US-specific.

Not really the Airpods fault there.

Maybe there are some headphones with better ambient noice cancellation, but AirPods don't seem any worse than the wired headphones I've used until this point. I just stopped doing conference calls at Starbucks or I go outside where noise cancellation works a lot better.

When I got hired for my current job I did both interviews from the parking lot of a local Starbucks for exactly this reason.

I have Jabra 65T earphones, they just work like you described with my MBP and Android phone. And no battery wear-out issue. They're not much cheaper than the airpods however.

I've found the call quality to be substantially better and, like you've said, have had no noticeable depreciation in battery life. I just wished they looked a bit better aesthetically. I've had a couple of people say that they thought I was wearing some sort of hearing aid...

They may have quietly made Bluetooth improvements but not mentioned it, in the same way you won't see Apple acknowledge fixing the constant problems with their keyboard on descriptions of their newer Macbook pros.

That's my suspicion. The H1 chip allows 2x faster pairing. I'm assuming this also incluedws more reliable pairing, but isn't mentioned.

It’s just a matter of time though. Li-ion batteries are typically rated for 500-1000 recharge cycles.

I own a pair and as well as everything you mentioned, the killer feature for me is not dropping out. Every other pair of bluetooth earbuds I've had were constantly dropping out on me when running through an airport or if I decided to pace around a room on a conference call unless I held my phone just so. I've found the range on AirPods to be fantastic. I work from home and if I want to pace around the house while I'm…

The range is surprising. I've walked to another part of the house and then wondered, where did I leave my phone? Because the airpods just didn't quit.
