Improvements for iPhone: - AirPlay - The Find My iPhone feature is now free to use without a MobileMe℠ subscription - AirPrint ("a next-generation Wi-Fi print architecture that dramatically simplifies printing by completely eliminating printer drivers") (thanks, rufo) The free Find feature is only for "iPhone 4, iPad or new iPod touch (4th generation)"

Nice, that just saved me $70/year on MobileMe. I had been using it only for the phone locator feature, and using Google Sync for everything else.

Here's the part that sounds like a break-through convenience to me: >a next-generation Wi-Fi print architecture that dramatically >simplifies printing by completely eliminating printer drivers

That sounded cool until I read the press release: "A selection of AirPrint enabled printers including the HP Photosmart, HP LaserJet Pro and HP Officejet will be the first to support printing direct from iOS devices." I take that to mean the printer needs to support this, which means AirPrint replaces the driver, and rather than adapt the driver to the OS, the printer adapts to the driver. Is this the case? It would…

You can enable non-AirPrint printers by sharing them through iTunes 10 (PC) or Mac OS X 10.6.5 (Mac).

I wonder why the free Find feature is only for the newest devices? Most of the time Apple is pretty good about only locking devices out if their hardware can't handle it. The 3GS should be able to handle it, right?

I really don't understand why they are not letting 3GS and 3G iPhone use the free Find features for free ... it can handle it.

If you lose your iPhone 3G or 3GS, they don't want you to find it... They want you to buy a new iPhone 4!

That seems pretty silly. You can't eliminate drivers -- something has to talk to the hardware -- you can just standardize them.

What sounds better to a potential customer: "This technology eliminates the need for dealing with printer drivers" or "This technology standardizes printer drivers?" If I'm the salesman, I'm going to go with the former. It's not even really a falsehood from the perspective of someone who would have to install the drivers.

Printing, also.
