Age 53. At my last job, I was doing React front end work. When I argued against Redux, Coffeescript and Typescript because our app didn't need them, I was told I wasn't a team player and that I wouldn't succeed in that company. I now have a new job at much much less salary.

Yes, that sounds like the normal "folly of inexperience" -- it comes from people who don't yet have enough experience to know that they don't know as much as they think.
There's a reason that people (in any field) with less experience tend to be more certain of the correctness of their judgement than people with more experience. The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I think back on instances like that as dodging a bullet. Can you imagine the hell that actually working with those people would have been?

Took me a while to see the value of Docker. Ever deploy the same software to multiple servers, and it maddeningly behaves slightly differently on different servers, and you're not quite sure why? This is the problem docker solves. Install exactly once, when you build the image. Then deploy the exact same code, down to the bit, as many times as you want, to as many servers as you want. Or quickly roll back to the Dock…
I am 31, my plan for the next 19 years until 50 is to Max out my Roth 401k and Roth IRA each year. Yep tax advantaged savings is key part of my plan.
(Although you have to make it to 59 1/2 to withdraw without penalties!)

So in short the cure for ageism is to try and look younger than you are? No one saw that one coming.
