I think you're missing some of the point. Enthusiasts for this kind of thing are the same kind of people that inexplicably embed metal objects into their face just to feel different.
Body modding has been around for thousands of years in various cultures. It's just something weird humans enjoy doing. What is wrong with wanting to look different? What makes you so great that you can judge people?
