Amir doesn't say whether or not he's an Iranian citizen. If so, there would seem to be a deliberate conflation being made here between Iranian ethnicity and nationality. He only says he's a PhD student in Canada. I don't want to be uncharitable and accuse the submitter of playing "hide the ball" with the headline, but I do suspect it.

That said, it's hard to see how sanctions would apply to Iranian nationals working outside of Iran on any type of visa/residency using Slack to communicate with people who are also outside the country. It's also terrible practice to unceremoniously nuke customer accounts along with all their data. Hope to see a response from Slack.
