It's super hard to find anything worth watching, and for me this is exasperated by the fact that you don't know about subtitles before starting a movie. Have to do a good deal of IMDb cross-referencing plus then peeking inside with those rare matches.

I'm seriously considering going back to DVD rentals -- yes, there are still a couple of stores open here.

From my memory Netflix used to have a fairly decent rating system but then some female comedian had her Netflix special heavily voted against due to some gender issues and Netflix scrapped their rating system. It's been horrible ever since.

DO you have a source on it actually being this? As far as I can tell it just happened to coencide with the relase of Schumers stand up special. Not sure where this spin of it being a gender issue is coming from other than to stir up unneeded drama.

Google is hopeless at that. YT watch-related is filled with stuff I already watched (in my browser history), even stuff I upvoted! I made a Tampermonkey script to expose VISITED links so I dont click on something by accident.

Edit: I just opened a random YT video from my subscription and counted recommendations I havent seen. 12 of 20 spots already seen. Nine were new, except 8 of those were garbage. SNK Neo Geo console board repair video lead to geopolitical/talk show/reality tv trash suggestions :o

I don't care about ratings -- IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, or random film critic -- it doesn't matter. I prefaced my statement with "from memory", that's exactly how I remember it. The rating system, which worked really well, had some controversy and Netflix scrapped it for a horrible one at the time of the controversy.
