(note: you probably mean “rationale”, not “rational”.)
Universal proselytization is generally a command of (most schools of) Christianity, and seen as a service to the people at which it is directed since the faith is seen as essential (or at a minimum beneficial) to salvation.
(I understand that nearly the same thing is true in Islam.)
