I think it was bought by IBM which is what screwed it up

The downhill slide started when The Weather Company bought it in 2012. TWC’s site was useless for all the ads at the time and that’s largely what pushed me to search and find Weather Underground. After the acquisition they plastered Weather Underground in ads as well. IBM hasn’t helped them, but they didn’t make them much worse either.

Honestly, ever since Reader was killed I have way more free time on my hands. Maybe it was my poor time management but it was a time hole for me, I'm actually glad that, at the time, nothing as good was around to make me stick on the endless RSS feeds I was subscribed.

Think about how much collective time that would be multiplied amongst the millions of users. Huge!

So maybe Google did the world a favour by binning Reader.

I used Feedly for a while, but I pretty much abandoned my RSS fix after the demise of Reader.

One thing I really wanted, but never picked up was a Little Printer from BERG. [1]

The only thing holding me back was the use of thermal paper, but the overall concept is excellent for us compulsive list makers.

My dream is to find a narrow impact printer (2" wide) that I can print to via network or USB.

It would be nice to have some kind of Google-Photos-alike without the Google part. E.g. I can host on my own NAS.
