Ask HN: Shall I teach python to my 11 yr old daughter?

I am a programmer and know python well. I know my son is good at studies and very good at learning new thing, loves science. At times I am tempted to teach him some python and I have a feeling that he will do great. Perhaps this will boost his confidence a lot. My concerns however are: he might spend a lot of time then in front of screen instead of going out and playing with his friends. Have you faced similar dilemma? What would be your advice?
