Yes, I'd be interested. We're evaluating Slack, MS Teams and Mattermost as a successor to Hipchat. Something to move the needle commercially in favour of on-premise would be helpful in that evaluation.

A web-based client is not going to provide adequate persistence on a smartphone.
Lounge works fine on a smartphone because the actual IRC connection would be handled by a server where you host it, not your own phone.
Do you get notifications when you are mentioned on your phone though?

IRC is horrible on phones (shitty history when you drop out of an internet connection, no cross-device unread-count synchronization, no encryption or login, etc). There are add-ons that try to fix that, but it's still a giant pain. I personally love Riot and Matrix as a "modern IRC".

If you want secure emails use GPG. Unlike slack, GPG is both open-source and offers government-level security. I don't think slack is more secure than GPG.
Companies are generally at more risk from failure to produce message content in a lawsuit, regulatory action, HR investigation, etc. than from eavesdropping. "Secure" in a corporate setting means subject to IT's surveillance, filtering, and archiving. I could also add to your list that Slack actually works in other platforms than Windows. Yes it's Electron but at least it's guaranteed to work, unlike Skype for Linux or Skype for Mac.
Funny enough I use Linux and am using the new Skype. The old Skype on Linux wasn't perfect but it was leagues and bounds ahead of the current Electron-based garbage.
