#12This actually sounds reasonable; most other messaging programs do the same in order to provide previews, thumbnail images, scan for malicious links or spam, etc.

#19EDIT: Ok, from the responses I get I was confused. Maybe Allo? Skype? I'm sure someone else other than Signal and WhatsApp were using Signal's protocol. Just ignore this post.
