I had to look it up, because as an outsider this argument is surreal to me. And sure enough, if you go in /r/btc and perform a search for the term “bcash”, there are pages of results that show the community at large generally hates the term. Seems a little extreme to me but it is what it is, I guess.

I totally agree with that, I'm not trying to claim that the community as a whole currently likes or supports the name BCash, just that it wasn't "the other side" that originally came up with it like so many people claim.
