Kind of, but if that's the form factor you want there isn't much in the way of alternatives as far as I know. (small tablet + external keyboard + one of those projects to run GNU/Linux userland on Android?)

And the linked sale price is 433 € with shipping to Germany from a location inside the EU (so no import duty), that's a bit better than your quoted price.

I had the same issue with mine regarding suspend-mode, but since moving to Linux haven't had an issue with it at all. Great little machine, and wonderful to have a full-blown Linux workstation in this form factor.

No, it's not true. There are official images released since a month ago or so. The diffs are even available on github. Ah, nice. That's why I mentioned that the article indicated that.

I'm actually in the market for a small device that runs Linux and is officially supported. I'm going to head back out on the road and I'm thinking that a smaller device that fits in a backpack would be nice and I generally avoid Windows.

The price isn't too bad. If I lose it, I won't much care. That's a definite bonus. So, this will be on my list. Thanks for correcting the article.

Edit: Just so I know, what criteria are you using for 'official?'

Probably, but there is probably a market for it still.

Other options could be something like https://uk.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_372953.html?wid=25 (much cheaper) with a bluetooth keyboard, I've seen people report success with Linux on certain ~7" tables (again much cheaper, just add bt keyboard and case).

If connectivity isn't an issue you don't even need Linux on the device directly: I've RDPd to Windows and SSHed to Linux from my phone before now. I've always got a machine on (or wakeable via WoL) somewhere that I can use. You can do the same from a tablet tethered to a phone. There are X servers for Android too, though I've not tried any of them yet (if I did it would only be to play, in reality if I need anything like that I'm breaking out the laptop or waiting until I have access to something else useful).

Why would anyone want a device of such inconvenient size for a human being? This size seems optimized for a falcon (superhuman eyesight) with huge pockets. I thought these were extinct.

You'd want it either (5" phones are bearable but incredibly annoying), or >=10" to be able to actually see stuff on the screen (ever tried one of those horrible 6-8" tablets?). Heck, even most women's purses can accommodate a 13" device easily...

I just finished fixing a customer site using my phone, an external keyboard and ConnectBot from the Galapagos.

I still use my stowaway bluetooth keyboard from my palm pilot days. It's still the best external keyboard for its size, AFAICT.

Yep and I loved my nexus 7 and Shield K1, so....

edit: not to mention that most Kindle are at that size too...

I saw similar behavior on a Windows 10 tablet recently. I suspect there's some issue between recent Windows 10 builds and the reference firmware for Cherry Trail.

As a workaround you can disable sleep mode and make sure GPD is fully powered off when not using it (white led off).

I had the same issue with mine regarding suspend-mode, but since moving to Linux haven't had an issue with it at all. Great little machine, and wonderful to have a full-blown Linux workstation in this form factor.

This is good to know. I haven't tried the Ubuntu respin, but will plan to do so soon.
