If they could only get near-Chrome speeds with significantly better battery impact that would also be a huge win.

Servo's multi threading actually improves battery life. Not sure how that translates to Firefox.

Great pointers, thanks. Do they also have any write-up on how did they find Rust during these changes? Was the back count lower than usual? Did the see an increase on productivity?

These components were built as part of the Servo project and then ported to Firefox, so you'd probably just want to ask the Servo team directly. You can find them on IRC, in the channel #servo on irc.mozilla.org.

There is https://blog.servo.org/, but it's mostly gradual updates on things, not a general overview.

Chrome didn't start from scratch. It was based off of WebKit which was based off of KHTML [0], the code has a lineage that dates back to at least 1998. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KHTML

Not having baggage can be liberating. That phase is way smaller than most people realize.

One of the worst Chrome bugs was a short sighted attempt to remain compatible with a bad decision by netscape.

Windows and tabs are both cognitive overload for me, I don't treat regular windows any differently from browser tabs.

Command-H does the trick for me.

The new Photon UI in Firefox 57 comes with a Touch UI. It's under Customize -> at the bottom "Density" -> Touch. No idea, though, how well it works, I don't have a touchscreen...

What does the age of their account have to do with the correctness of their statements or the attempt by GP to shift the burden of proof?

I'm just curious why HN highlights new users. Why do you think they do? HN already tries to take action against "aggressive" accounts or astroturfing with ghosting them, so it seems possible because of that, that they highlight new accounts for similar possible reasons.
