I think both can coexist. HackerNewsletter can be more fresh while hackermonthly can become slightly longer for a regular HNer. Some articles attract too many upvotes in a really short period. I am usually not away for more than a week. But that said I still like hackermonthly.

Direct Mail (http://directmailapp.com) is a newsletter/mailing-list app for the Mac that lets you set up web-based subscribe and unsubscribe forms.

It hit 200 today, which is a little lower than I had hoped... but I think once the first couple newsletters go out people will have a better idea if it fits their needs or not.
