Initially we are focused on a broad subset of popular foods in Asia. The intended model is a wholly owned and operated network including the logistics system for restock and servicing, in order to keep costs down. Ingredients will be relatively numerous, with variety significantly upwards of the average restaurant kitchen.

Ubiquity and accessibility. Sure, giant corporations like Ikea and Yelp made AR apps, now every iOS developer can too and there'll be buckets of documentation and tutorials to help them along the way.

Not markerless, not coupled with a relatively to use 3D api.

and Android 2.2 also had an api. but don't try to argue with people that just watched an apple announcement.

They're different things, but don't try and argue with people on hacker news.

My whole business is based on targeting older businesses. We've done some really simple CRUD apps with users for each employee for quite great margins. So much work to be done - just gotta meet enough businesses.

But how do you find jobs like that?

Tldr; This is what we attend / do to get clients that's not into tech already:

- lots of general network events where only C-level staff attend (often paid networks)

- side by side with consultants and business developers that haven't got technical staff

- get references from companies we've befriended by giving them leads before

You need to find a way into non-technical companies. We find them by going to network meetings with companies not in the IT sector. I have a large network of tech companies, but more non-tech companies. Sometimes a CEO for a marketing firm have a good lead they want in the long term, and then he brings in us to deliver something else for their business, such as an internal app for tracking deliveries. His potential client gets hyped up and I suggest potential marketing angles of the app and in doing so direct the business back to him. Other times I have a few drinks with CEOs from different companies at network events, they get to know me on a more personal level, and then pass me / us as a reference when they hear about jobs. We also go side by side of business developers, letting them add "digitalization" as a part of their brand.

This is so true. I have been trying to get into this space but leads are so hard to come by.

What's keeping you on Matlab? In my experience it's mostly the domain-specific libraries or Simulink. The core matrix-y stuff can pretty much all be ported to Python with similar or better perfomance, especially using Numba.

Part of it is me inheriting a legacy code base and part of it is the fact that it is easier to collaborate with members of my field using MATLAB as it is common knowledge.

Python is fine, but I do like having matrices as first-party language members -- that's just a nitpick though. I'm starting a new project soon that I intend to do in Julia because it seems to have everything I like from Python and MATLAB combined.
