(Not a defense, just an FYI) If you turn on Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion, it makes the app switcher a bit easier to use.

Then don’t bother. Unless an app has a pretty bad bug, you don’t need to force-kill it, and that’s what you’re doing here.
What about Maps? Leave it (or Google Maps) open in the background and battery life suffers.
Only if you’re actively navigating somewhere.
