I still see a major shift, in that we're passing the point of human abstraction levels. Before, everything was at best a tool. An peripheral for the same kind of humans ever to use. Now we're changing ourselves. It's a lot more different.
ps: btw, "good life" hasn't changed to me. Who wants to go to the country side, walk in the forest, sit down a fire with friends, look at the sun, the sky; animals. Enjoy a disconnected cabin ? To me the basics of happiness didn't change, and tech doesn't really improve that either; in a way .. tech is often pornographic in substance; an excitation in "more" (more capabilities, more bandwidth, more speed).

Musk never delivers on time. I think he sets unrealistic deadlines deliberately to scare off competitors and motivate his staff. Yet he still does things so radical that they spawn or renew entire industries, so does it really matter whether things are delayed by a year or two?
exactly. he accelerated development of affordable electric cars by a decade. he basically rebuilt the space launch market. he's got the energy storage and production market in his sights. also don't forget he cocreated the internet payments market.

This scenario scare the hell out of me. Is injecting/intercepting brain signals directly really the way forward? Do we really want to create monster human species? IMHO, future AI should be used to enhance human cognitives in a noninvasive way. Never in such a dystopian way as in the movie "The Matrix".
Eh. Brain stem, reptile brain, mammal brain, primate brain, neocortex, cybercortex. Half my mind is already in cyberspace, why not make it half my brain, too? Edit: Dystopias don't come from technologies, they come from people being shitty.

I've stopped paying attention ever since he spoke of breaking into the tunnels business.
the boring company is basically half joke, half crazy idea and even musk admits it, just read an interview piece where he shows a TBM to a reporter. he doesn't come off as completely serious about it. if it works out, though... we're talking big business.
