I have a Windows PC for day-to-day stuff and gaming, I use a MacBook pro for work. I don't really like the thing - but it pays the bills.

You can't copy and paste an image out of Photos, either. It's really quite ridiculous.
1. Open Photos. 2. Select Photo. 3. Edit Menu -> Copy. 4. Open TextEdit. 5. Edit Menu -> Paste. It is ridiculous. Ridiculously simple.
After some experimentation, it turns out my problem was that I expected - ridiculous, I know - that it would copy image data in some form that's comprehensible to Gimp, Firefox and Thunderbird. So I now rather suspect that Photos is using some new API, that Gimp/Firefox/Thunderbird aren't, and that this new API is, for no particular reason that I can see, not remotely backwards-compatible.
Feels like this forms a data point for the thread - since meanwhile, on Windows, I have a couple of programs in my bin folder that I use fairly regularly that I compiled in 2006.

Cheap underpowered laptops are really common in the windows world. My wife had an HP that we bought in 2015 that would take up to a minute to load chrome on Win10 for example. Everything done on the laptop was an exercise in waiting. I would honestly dread having to help her with her laptop because of how slow every action one. She upgraded to a Yoga finally and it's snappy now.

I am using bash extensively on the newest insider build (so this is coming in creators update), bash is working flawlessly. I have no problems with scaling with a combination of 4k, 1080p and 2736x1824 monitors. I am tech savy and I have been using mac for 4 years. I can't find where to change settings on Windows 10 to be honest, I find my self looking at two different control panels all the time, one is the moderm one like for tablets and the other one is the one we had since Windows 95 I believe. Some settings can be changed in one but not in the other one.

I think the start menu on win10 looks like someone threw up a bunch of squares and trying to update settings in what was the control panel is now a special kind of hell.
I don't use it ever except when I need to help friends/family though.
