#3I find it hard to believe that Twitter doesn't have some method of adding additional security to high-profile accounts; and that they would not necessarily publish it.
For all we know, that could be a honeypot setting, with the additional layer of security not visible outside of Twitter's internal authentication mechanism.

#4This article makes it sound like this is common sense, but I think Twitter (and other tech companies) could do a better job at encouraging better security practices. General consumers don't care to go look for improving their security; it's on us to point them in the right direction. Gmail tends to do this periodically at login, for example.
Granted, the White House Communications Agency should have checked this.

I think this might be giving Twitter too much credit.
