That really depends on where you live :) Not so bright, If you are living in a country which has a low rent index. The calculation is really messed up, rent index should be a contributor not a multiplier.

Hey there! Thanks for the feedback. I'm part of the PeopleOps team at GitLab and we are always looking to improve our comp. calculator. We know it isn't perfect yet and we need feedback from everyone to create the most fair and accurate compensation calculator for everyone. If you want to share your experience and suggestions with me, I'd be happy to chat with you directly and share them with our internal compensatio…

I like that you guys are being open about this, but the way you calculate compensation leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth. I very much dislike the idea that you, as an employer, are deciding what proportion of their income your employees should be spending on rent. You're also effectively saying that work done by someone who lives in a cheaper location is less valuable to the company than the same work done by someone who lives in a more expensive location. Maybe all employers do this and the only difference is that you guys are being honest about it, but still... yuck.

SpaceX | Los Angeles, CA | Full-time | Senior Full Stack Software Developer | http://www.spacex.com/careers We seek to accelerate the course of human history by developing the technologies necessary for multi-planetary civilization. Most people think of us as a hardware company, but SpaceX has a strong software group that contributes to everything from vehicle design to literally launching the rocket. The Flight Soft…

It's a shame -- and slightly surprises me -- that ITAR applies to roles like this. Does it apply to entire orgs, or is SpaceX to small to be worth the trouble of creating separate legal categories of employees?

One of the great things about this job is that we have to interact with a lot of teams across the company - so the clearance is definitely necessary and reduces red tape.

Uber | San Francisco or Seattle | Full-time Uber's Security team works to ensure the security of all code, systems and data used by our riders, drivers, and partners. Product Security is responsible for working with engineers to design, build, advise and review security concerns across a diverse variety of projects. You will be relied upon to provide engineering and product teams with the security expertise necessary…

I have sent multiple email to the email mentioned. Nobody ever replied. check tusharg1993 [AT] gmail [DOT] com

Thank you for taking the time to apply!

I assure you that this handle is monitored. These emails are reviewed by the hiring manager (my team) and EngSec recruiting team.

We get a lot of emails from non-security engineers and that's what we're looking for with this post. That's likely why you didn't receive a reply. For candidates that really stand out, the recruiting team might reach out about other positions.

You can apply directly to positions here(1) that might be a better fit for you.

Thanks again and happy new year. :)

I know this happens in pretty much all software based companies but SpaceX is the only one I have seen which explicitly states that on their hiring page.

Are there any resources for those of us persistently looking for jobs? I graduated from CMU with a CS degree in 2004 but never found an entry level job. Everyone tells me it should be easy to find one and then gets upset when I ask where. I am a C/C++ programmer just trying to survive.
