Horrible name - the Federal Government of the United States is not "the People".
And horrible domain name: How come `code.gov` is US-only? How come it's motto is "Help propel America’s next breakthrough in innovation"? If this in not imperialism, I don;t know what is.

Crypto and democracy can't be compared. You can delegate advanced science, you should not delegate democracy, because it's the root of all the rest.
Isn't delegating democracy what we do when we elect someone to congress (or parliament) to draft, debate, and enact the law?

Actually, with monopsony it's rather simple: "If you don't publish the code, then we will have to use paper ballots."

Seriously, the open source movement has generated some pretty good businesses. Maybe the case can be made that electoral equipment is an exception to that.
But asserting the proposition doesn't prove it.
