Log in or Sign up with Jquery and PHP

It's a nice form, but do you think it's a good idea to allow a user to sign up without checking that the password is what they intended to type (i.e. by having two password fields and checking they are the same)? Seems like a very good way to get a lot of extra support queries to me.
