Heavens. Doesn't Google see what's happening here? All they've managed to bring forth with their epic hiring process (now the de-facto gold standard, worldwide) is an epic... arms race. The higher they set their "bar", the more desperately people will cram their heads full of Boyer-Moore, A*, and countless other algorithms they (and their interviewers) couldn't otherwise begin to care about. Other than Avis, Airbnb,…

Every agent in an arms race is behaving rationally, from their perspective. The only solution is cooperation, but corporations have less incentive to cooperate than, say, nation-states.

Such a 'cooperation' may very well be illegal under antitrust regulation [1].

Bangalore, India. Many Positions. Full time.

Some of you might have followed my posts over the last year, and some have asked why I held back on the name of the company.

It is JioMoney, and we are live now.

We launched last week and are the top trending app in the Finance section in play store.

The problem scope is large, complex and fascinating problem to crack. The potential to bring banking to 600 million un/underbanked Indians is what excited me to work on this.

We are looking to hire a good core team of full time math, physics and CS majors, UI UX and product managers, who will work of Bangalore, India.

We are open to hiring people from around the world but they will need to work out of Bangalore.

Looking for full time and in exceptional cases, consultants, welcome.

We also have our payment network baked into banks and mass transit.

In the past I have built both fast-data and big-data companies and have a few patents in this space.

If you are interested, please email me at google's email service - takenottie.

Does make me appreciate interviews for contractors, quick phone screen and a face to face for everyone I've done so far. Recruiters for these roles seem far less inclined to waste any time.

That sounds pleasant. Do you mind me asking where/how you put yourself out there for those kinds of recruiters to find you?

Setup a profile on linked in... make sure your job history, including skills for each job is in there... as much as it bugs me, it's about the most effective solution to fielding blind approaches. That said, if you're on the higher end of the pay scale, and less inclined to relocate, then you'll get a lot of approaches for things you're not remotely interested in.

I've been tempted to look at the HackerRank challenge for a long time out of sheer curiosity, but I don't want to move to California, and feel guilty about starting what is tantamount to a job application for a position I don't want.
