Is this really so useful in practice? I have never used PowerShell before (nor do I have plans to do so in the near future), but I would imagine the downside is complexity, both for user and especially for developers. With text you just read and parse, while with objects you need to know the object type, its fields,... Whatever happend, I hope text stays here (and I have a bad feeling about it ever since I met systemd).

It seems weird that the feature of PS that you're most impressed with is something so... trivial? You have full access to your history in both shells so you could easily emulate that feature in bash/zsh or you could create a special binding to run all commands from a point in your history so you only have to press Enter once.

Or just be sane and use ctrl-r and search.

I get the feeling that most users have only accessed 5% of the features available in their unix shell of choice

Well they certainly have the resources to grow and support the .Net tech stack, that's for sure. I'm finding myself stuck in it more and more.

TypeScript was my gateway drug.

Linux is still my daily driver for getting work done but I can't help but enjoy breakpoint debugging Node applications in VS Code.

Objects are discoverable in powershell. Enter the object, and lists the object out as text.
