Qbix Inc. http://qbix.com | remote | independent partners | non-traditional

Looking for: PHP, MySQL, JS, Node.js, HTML/CSS, PhoneGap, Visual Design and UX

First time posting here. This is an experiment.

We built an open source platform like Facebook, but decentralized, that lets developers build apps which communities will install. What Wordpress did for blogs, Qbix Platform does for social.

We're not fans of full-time employment, especially not on-site. We prefer to work in a decentralized manner, relying on our tools and systems (version control, project tracker, email, etc.) to get things done. Our motto is "People live lives. Companies create products."

So we are not hiring anyone for full-time work. It is more of a super-accelerator, with 90% done for you. Instead of selling your time for money in order to build value for a corporation, we will set you up with your own company for your project. You will own 15% of the company, with Qbix and other team members owning the rest.

With this structure, you do not have to be a US citizen. You will be a part owner in a joint venture. You would be in charge of working with your team and making decisions together. The companh would pay salaries to the team, and you would have 15% of any dividends or disbursements.

For more information, visit http://qbix.com/platform and shoot us an email.

Why do this? Well, while you are looking for a job, you probably have an idea for a project you are passionate about. You could build it from scratch, or you could do this partnership with Qbix which would get you:

  Our Platform that does 90% work you'd do:
  * http://qbix.com/platform
  * etc. with full technical support

  Access to our 3 million+ user base
  * After your app hits mininimum
    virality & engagement metrics
  * Integration with existing apps
  * Available in app store for communities

  Infrastructure
  * Hosting, migrations, monitoring, scaling
  * Connect with designers, investors, etc.
  * Tons of reusable components
  * Best practices, support, workshops
  * Legal and accounting taken care of
Why do this instead of building your own startup and doing everything yourself for your app? The main reason is you reduce the risk of failure. Instead of starting from 5 users and spending years trying to get things right, you build with our technology, reusable components and user base, and just need to iterate until you hit well defined metrics. Then once you have an accelerating consumer user growth curve we help you raise venture capital to get "the other side" eg signing up businesses. Worst case, you fail fast. Best case, you end up with a successful startup and lots of connections.

Sonalytic (http://imperialcreatelab.com/sonalytic/) | London, UK | Full time onsite

We are a funded startup in the music technology space. We have developed a new algorithm for identifying music at massive scale, and are working with music labels and major online platforms to connect creators and rights-holders to monetisation opportunities. We’ve performed extensive trials with multiple platforms, and based on that, we know that our machine-learning method leads the field by a huge margin.

Our underlying audio identification system is built on a highly optimised set of in-memory databases, message queues, and computation workers. It compares half an hour of music per second against a database with millions of tracks - that’s more audio than most of the largest online platforms retrieve per second. We are looking for a senior developer to help us grow a SaaS system around it.

Our current API and dashboards are built around Rails with React.js. We are also considering migrating to Elixir and Phoenix, so if this sparks your interest, please mention it in your email.

We offer:

- Salary range between £55k-75k

- Offices at WeWork Old Street, with all the typical amenities you'd expect

- A great team of highly skilled researchers, computer scientists and music industry experts

- Great discounts on vinyl and audio equipment through our music industry partners

To apply, send your CV to jobs@sonalytic.com. We'll then arrange a coding interview with you.
