Organizations that want an internal social network should also evaluate Jive. The UI isn't as slick as Facebook but overall I've been happy with it.

#124I clicked this hopeful that Facebook had made a new product tailored to the needs of an office. Instead it seems like they recently decided that their existing product just happens to already be the perfect product for the office and rebranded it. I don't buy this at all, teams don't actually collaborate by sending each other green giraffe stickers.

As an anecdote, this has definitely been my experience. And it's compounded by having numerous different media: phone, text, GroupMe, Slack, email, Facebook, Hangouts, and so on. At this point, there's not a single service anybody can use to immediately reach me, because I've pretty much conditioned myself not to read anything until I feel ready to be distracted. It's a mess.

I actively block Facebook at work with /etc/hosts and I would continue to do so if my workplace installed this.
