I really wish I could do something. I feel acute distress at this news. It is not right.

I've got an idea if someone really wants to go on a hunt... This might seem incredibly nosy, but I don't think it would be too personal - check RadioReference for his city, they archive police scanner feeds, if you pay them a little, you can access the archives. If something happened and he was having some sort of mental health or drug problem, hopefully that would be mentioned, if something really did go down with t…
If the pastebinned tweets I've seen are really his then he was clearly unhinged when he made them. Whether that is due to head trauma or if the problems with the police came about because he was already having issues, I have no idea. Either way, while I totally understand his family's request for privacy, I do wish as a culture we felt more comfortable discussing things like this when they happen instead of basically…

#133This was very recent, and the facts are not yet in. The best evidence we have to go on is his most recent tweets, captured on Pastebin ( http://pastebin.com/dX3VSPkM ). His Twitter account ( https://twitter.com/imurdock ) seems to have been deleted, which is extremely strange. Main notes: * He was repeatedly beaten by the police. He alludes to having taken photos of the injuries, and having been hospitalized, so this…
Head injury by police? Murder by police? Your absolutly feeding into the paranoid developer complex. Read his tweets on the PasteBin (http://pastebin.com/dX3VSPkM). Seems like he was under the influence during this.

#134@jackstormwriter just locked his tweets. Does anyone know who this guy is or his connection to this whole affair? just curious considering his tweet: 6:00pm: @jacksormwriter wants me dead
He retweeted "Ian Murdock just deleted his Twitter account" from @faissialoo [3], which seems strange, given this account is self described as "A weird 14 year old Muslim indie game developer, editor and cereal enthusiast from london who loves content creation and messing with computers." with 138 followers.

Re: In Memoriam: Ian Murdock
#135Hmm, I don't understand this story and links here. Why would a very successful person with family commit suicide over police-brutality? No comprendo. The appropriate response would be to get even through a court of law, or even paying to have some legs broken if it were justified. Perhaps he was depressed or mentally ill?

He also literally said he was going to commit suicide, so perhaps we should stop speculating and wait for someone who actually has real information to share it. Seriously, if ever comment on this page containing the phrase "I believe" or "I think" was deleted right now, we would not lose any objective facts.
while googling, I found this page:
(warning, it's a 4chan thread, overflowing with hateful comments) https://archive.is/2Cdj1
In there, horrible people are inviting other horrible people to go on twitter and troll (i.e. harass) Ian.
If you're close to taking your own life, you want to be close to your loved ones, and the last thing you want is to get random people calling you names.
Really crushes my faith in humanity.
We need more people like Ian.

He said on Twitter that police beat him up once, and then a second time after following him home. I hope there is a real investigation, this is enraging.
Of course we need to investigate but don't jump to any conclusions and start yelling about police brutality. If he had mental health problems then police can easily be perceived as they are after him and any attempt to restrain you will be seen as violence. It is really tragic but if it likely to be police brutality then the family will pursue it. If they don't pursue any action then my guess is that Ian had a mental…

> I found myself on top of a tall building at which point I had the clarity to figure out I really should talk to a suicide hotline. Unfortunately I didn't know the number and internet abroad was impossible to get at the time, I'm really sorry you had that experience. And I'm so so glad that you didn't die that night. I wanted to let you know that there is work currently happening (in the UK) to prevent death by suic…
You mention the samaritans - those people are awesome and they're the ones who helped me through the tough times when I came back home. If anyone is looking for volunteer work in the UK, especially if you have people skills, check them out. You sound like you work in mental health. Can I ask you who you work for?
