#202I realize I'm posting this a bit late, but I'm hoping it's not too late for it to be seen. Like apparently so many others here, I don't like asking for help, so it took me a while to decide to bite the bullet and post.
I've been laid off in August, and I've been looking for work since. Unfortunately, nothing has really panned out yet, but I'm nearly out of funds (due to health issues, I couldn't save nearly as much as I'd wanted to). I recently started part-time work at a farm in exchange for room and board, hoping it would leave me enough time to do remote freelance work to bring in cash, but they just let me go because their own coffers are dry.
Right now, I have almost no cash left, and I came to the nearest big city (Munich, Germany), planning to look for a full-time job in a store or a cafe to keep a roof over my head, and do remote freelancing in the time I'll have available after work. About $500 to cover food and hostel accommodation over the next two weeks would be a major boost that would make my job search much easier, as I only have money for about two days of food and housing, and without any extra funds, I suppose I'll have to spend time every day after that figuring out food and housing.
Also, I realize it's a very big ask, but if $1.5k were somehow possible, that would probably change my life, as I would have enough to cover food and hostel lodging until I get my first monthly paycheck from the new service or retail job, assuming I can get it in the next week or two. That would give me stability again, and I would have a much higher chance of keeping that new job, which in turn would give me a much higher chance of achieving stability again long-term.
I hope it goes without saying that I tremendously appreciate any help at all. Of course, I'll be happy to provide any additional information, at any time. Once again, Alexander, thank you so much for offering to help in this way.

#206Well I need legal help. My state denied my home care services, and I have to go through an appeal hearing. Unfortunately, everyone around me thinks I can do the hearing on my own, without representation. I'm not sure why, but that's the situation I face right now. Probably not the kind of assistance you were thinking of, but OK.
Much smaller thing, I could use a Miniflux instance, if anyone wants to help with hosting that, I'd be willing to pay $10 to $30 per month.

By the time I got out everything was gone. I am doing fine though and am on the road to recovery. Uh huh? 10 years in pretrial detention is wayyy too long!! I do follow some trials, I have somewhat of a theoretical understanding of how things work. Who decided to waive that much time??? That's the question! Are they ever going to get to the trial sometime? Or will it be the longest delay of trial ever?

WTF. Ten years locked up without trial, isn't that unconstitutional?
It generally would be considered unconstitutional, yes. When immigration status is thrown into the mix though, you never really know what can happen unfortunately. 10 years without trial is in fact a whole lot too long though!!

Sadly nothing in the constitution limits the length of pretrial incarceration. I don't understand the full constitutional implications of the those in Guantanamo, but that issue probably had something to do with why their detention was allowed to continue for so long. I've known several people who managed over 11 years in the Cook County Jail. I did 8 years and 1 month in jail, then 11 months on house arrest, then an…
That's true, but usually if it starts adding up, and not progressing fast enough, you'll start hearing the judge say hey, let's get on with all of this. That is of course unless we're having problems with not having an attorney etc. Although there are cases where that doesn't happen definitely. Or one side chooses to waive way, way too much time, for some ridiculous reason.
