When I got an outreach recruiting email late afternoon last Friday about a design position in google, of course I was excited. Subsequently I went home and start preparing for it. My portfolio has been fairly maintained and updated consistently and was last updated several months ago. But I wanted the best version of me to show to google. It took me the whole weekend and finally everything is ready to go Monday morning 9:30.

I sent it out to the recruiter, and didn't expect hear back merely an hour and half later, a rejection note, standard as below: "Thank you for sending that over! We would like to thank you for your interest in career opportunities at Google. We carefully reviewed your background and experience for Visual Designer and Interaction Designer , and we currently have other candidates already in process that are a stronger match for the current open positions. We will continue to use our database to match your profile with new opportunities and will reach out to you if we find an opening for which you may be qualified. Thanks again for your interest in Google's careers!"

What I sent over 2 hours ago are two links, resume and newly updated portfolio. Neither link was clicked according to my monitoring system.

I am not offended because google rejected me, but because how I was treated during the process and how silly I feel for spending almost 30 hours during the weekend to update a portfolio link, which, no one even opened.

To careless google recruiters: More and more talents will just slip away like this, because of irresponsible outreach and careless "review" (if not non existence).
