Re: Keurig 2.0 DRM Bypass
#2Why exactly do we need (to bypass) DRM on a coffee machine?
Re: Keurig 2.0 DRM Bypass
#3Alternatively, we could stop wasting so much packaging and take 5 minutes to make a pot of coffee.
Re: Keurig 2.0 DRM Bypass
#4Another solution is to not buy Keurig machines.

The video explained that clearly. New Keurig coffee machines, in order to bolster their own coffee sales, refuse to operate on non-Keurig cups. By bypassing it, consumers can buy equipment then put whatever they want in it, returning control to the consumer.

#6What kind of engineers keep building these anti-consumer, anti-competition DRM systems? Someone should call them out publicly, by name. The world doesn't need more DRM systems.
Re: Keurig 2.0 DRM Bypass
#7It's an amusing video, but note that that same barcode is also what provides coffee/tea-specific brewing parameters to the machine. Using the same barcode for all cups breaks that. (Using a barcode from one coffee on another seems unlikely to seriously affect the results, though.)

I'll start:

The kind of engineers who want to supply people with a $140 machine instead of a $500 machine, I'm guessing.
Don't like it? Don't buy a Keurig. There are hundreds of other ways to brew coffee at home.
